Senyor Pirotècnic, pot començar la Mascletà

The second phase of the International Fireworks Competition took place last night in the Baroque "Herrenhäuser Gärten" of Hannover.
After Austria, two weeks ago, it was Spain turn's, with its greatest representation: the Valencian Pyrotechnicians, to enlighten Hannover skyes with beautiful colours and mindblowing figures, all on a suitable music which ranged from classical to paso doble and zarzuelas.
In two weeks it will be Russia's turn to rock the gardens. Can't wait!

We Feed The World

From the Spanish region of Almeria, where inmigrants, mostly north African or Subsaharian, work, in miserable conditions, on a huge area covered with "invernaderos", producing the tomatoes that will travel half way around Europe to be sold at an unbeatable price, to the Hectares of Soya fields that have dismanteled a considerable part of the Amazone so that the cattle and mast chickens can be fed, a bunch of twisted, upsetting facts are exposed in this Austrian movie (imdb and "synopsis") which will make you think.

To everyone's surprise, it was the Finnish band "Lordi" who won this Eurovision edition.
“You know, we are meat eaters in a vegetarian café,” said Mr. Lordi when asked how the band feels to be in Eurovision. Quite understandable when, in between the défilé of rather light-dressed female "singers", appears this dark band, singing a "hard rock hallelujah". It is everything but expectable!
I personnally would have preferred the Lithuanian to win, because their song was one of a shrewed move that could have worked, if all the European metal heads didn't get on the phone to vote for their chances to get their representants in Eurovision to win.
